Why does conversion fail in Chrome?

Chrome cannot decode HEIC natively. Safari on macOS or iOS can. If this tool fails, convert the photo on the iPhone or Mac that took it, or use another converter.

Does converting lose quality?

The JPG is encoded at high quality from the full-resolution image, so ordinary viewing and printing are unaffected. HEIC is itself compressed, so some re-encoding is unavoidable.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. They are decoded and converted on your device. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.

Can I convert a mix of HEIC and JPG files?
