Is this image compressor free?

Yes. There is no signup, watermark or file limit, and the images are processed in your browser.

Which format should I choose?

Choose WebP for the smallest file on modern browsers and websites. Choose JPG when the image must open in any app. Choose PNG only when you need lossless detail or transparency.

Does compressing reduce quality?

WebP and JPG are lossy, so very low quality settings will show artefacts. Balanced is usually indistinguishable at normal viewing size. PNG output is lossless but may be larger.

Can I resize instead of just compressing?

Yes. Pick a maximum long edge such as 1920 or 1280 px. Images larger than that are scaled down; smaller images are not enlarged.

Why does a HEIC file fail?

Chrome cannot decode HEIC natively. Open it in Safari on a Mac or iPhone, or convert it to JPG first. The compressor accepts any format your browser can decode.

Are my images uploaded?

No. They are decoded, resized and re-encoded on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
